Why the toys were recalled
The water beads inside the mystery dumpling toys expand larger than permitted. If ingested, a water bead can pose ingestion, choking, and intestinal obstruction hazards inside a child’s body, resulting in severe discomfort, vomiting, dehydration, and a risk of death. The CPSC said no incidents or injuries were reported.
How to identify the recalled toy
The Mochi Malrang Mystery Dumpling Toy is translucent red and contains glitter and water beads. It has a cartoon face and is packaged in a tan plastic container shaped like a bamboo steamer. The removable package label displays “SOFT and SQUISHY” and “MOCHI MALRANG.” The toy has no markings other than the cartoon face.
Where the toys were sold
About 480 toys were sold at Easy Wholesale in San Jose, California, in July 2026 for about $10. LLK Trading Inc. of Vernon, California, distributed the toys. They were manufactured in China.
